The Rapid Response section is responsible for coordination of the Municipal Rapid Response Team, chaired by the District Speaker. The officials respond to protests and record the nature and extent of all protests. They also attend local municipality Rapid Response meetings and compile reports for the provincial Rapid Response meetings coordinated by COGTA.

The Traditional Liaison unit is responsible for coordination of liaison with the District House of Traditional Leaders, facilitated by the Office of the Mayor. They attend to issues affecting Amakhosi, coordinate meetings between Leadership and Amakhosi, as well as facilitate their attendance at Council meetings.
